It is produced through thermal pyrolysis (300<sup>o<\/sup>C-700<sup>o<\/sup>C) of biomass, under little or zero oxygen conditions<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Feedstocks to make biochar are abundant and include carbon <strong>waste streams<\/strong> from agriculture, forestry, urban sources, farm wastes, livestock remains, human, food and other<strong> compostable wastes<\/strong>. These are all low-value materials with limited uses and high disposal costs<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Its tremendous porous and surface structure provides a great habitant for micro-organisms, increases <strong>bioavailability<\/strong>, and creates a reservoir for water, nutrients and, in certain applications, pollutants. Using it as a soil additive increases plant growth rates. Other benefits include<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Reduce the need for <strong>chemical fertilizers<\/strong> containing nitrogen and phosphorus<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Help retain nitrogen and sulfurs in soil<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Facilitate reestablishment of <strong>vegetation<\/strong> on sterile ground<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Inhibit the growth of molds or mildews<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Odour control<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Filter out <strong>contaminants<\/strong> from shallow soil water<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Remove heavy metals and acids from abandoned mine ponds<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bind toxins and prevent their leaching into surface and ground water<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ref: <a href=\"https:\/\/esemag.com\/hazmat-remediation\/biochar\/\">www.esemag.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you know biochar has different applications Biochar has many applications in helping with climate change, food security, renewable energy and waste management.
