Amount of Waste Generated by Health-Care Activities

 Do you know the American hospitals produce more than 5.9 million tons of medical waste each year? Also, studies in Iran have shown that 115 tons of medical waste is produced daily in Tehran province, of which 91 tons are related to hospitals and  tons to medical centers

Waste generated by health care activities includes a broad range of materials, from used needles and syringes to soiled dressings, body parts, diagnostic samples, blood, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and radioactive materials. U.S. hospitals produce more than 5.9 million tons of medical waste each year
