Microplastics: A Hidden Threat to the Human Food Chain
Did you know that microplastics, due to their small size, can be ingested by aquatic organisms such as fish, shellfish, and plankton?The studies have shown that shellfish and sea snails have the highest accumulation of microplastics. The contamination levels of these particles have reached several hundred particles per gram of their soft tissue.
Microplastics transfer through the food chain to human and can pose serious public health risks.
